Tech innovation, a technology-industry event, took place on 18 – 19 September 2018, bringing together international and Singapore technology providers and business collaboration opportunities. Tech innovation 2018 was organized by IPI, a non-profit organization under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, which works with enterprises in order to connect them to enabling technologies from the extensive network of technology partners. The best practices could thus be learned from leaders and successful enterprises, as well as 1-to-1 pre-matched meetings with potential collaborators.
Tech innovation is a brokerage type of event, regarding information and communication, held in Singapore Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. The industry is in need of a focus on unique technology solutions and this event proved to be the matchmaking of connections between the seekers and providers lead, strictly for commercialization outcomes. The intense two-day event is packed with plenary talks and technology calls for collaboration, with over 160 exhibitors and 400 ready-to-market technologies. Bringing together international and ASEAN technology to explore business opportunities through open innovation and join leading corporate R&D, the event was highlighted by the presentations aimed towards adoption and co-development opportunities. In its seventh year, it has grown to a leading exhibition, focusing on the industry’s needs, as well as crowdsourcing. This marketplace has been created for network and exploration purposes, but also to initiate collaboration, and the strong support from the network of global technology partners made a real nice difference from the previous ones. When talking about this event we are actually discussing about connectivity in the marketplace that brings together enterprises to accelerate the commercialization of emerging technologies and foster open innovation.
Registration was open for exhibitors from April and the event was supported under the EASME SME Instrument – Overseas Trade Fairs Program. More than 300 technologies that span electronics, manufacturing and environment were presented through elevator-pitch presentations. Global corporations have been seeking technologies and external technology providers have been pitching available technologies for licensing. By providing access to a large pool of technology, leading large corporations that are part of the value chains were better able to create innovative services and share their technology needs.
The event actually targeted sectors such as packaging, materials technology, Microtechnology or Waste Management. Guests were able to discover technologies through an open innovation platform as well as crowd pitching for commercialization. Innovation is about being able to grow successfully while making the most of technology, which is why SMEs have chosen Tech innovation as a platform. It is the largest exhibition that focuses on enabling and ready-to-market inventions in info-communications, materials, personal care and energy with the help of research organizations, IP intermediaries and multi-national corporations.
Putting together this event required the help of strong partners such as Spring Singapore who have been promoting all the new technologies of 2018.
